Winter Sunlight on Faerie Butts: Notes from the Aloha Gathering in Hawai’i

Aloha from the land of the great destroyer-creator Goddess Pele. She lives in the bubbling pots of lava inside the ever spurting kila wea volcano here on the big island, where our first ever faerie gathering was held this past winter solstice 2004. Two fabulous just-discovered -they were-faeries named Normand and Kelly offered to host us where they own and live and work naked all day on their Puna banana plantation “Isle of You” (say it to yourself a few times fast).
The week long gathering was a soft and sweet pot pourri of chaos magick, abundant tropical fruits, light rains, heart circles, friendship deepenings and mana saturated love. We took field trips to fantastical locales like the steam vents of Pahoa (an organic bathhouse in more ways than one), the black sand beach Kahena, a bottomless, boy-swallowing Green Lake inside a volcanic caldera and the bathwater warm and turtle filled Champagne Pond. All the local gurls honored us with teachings of hula, ti plant lei and bracelet making, kava drinks, healing oils, chants and exotic fruits like orange lilicoy, starfruit, noni, papayas, apple bananas, coconuts and doorious
The call for this gathering went out with a strong intention: “Manifesting the vividly beautiful vision of permanent faerie sanctuary in Hawai’i.” And already this may be happening, as the note below from our local faerie ambassador Buck (aka Juicy Chainsaw and Many Hands Flying) foretells. I love it when faeries manifest the things that we want most, more than just talk about them. It shows us that the magick and intention of our tribe has a powerful effect on each other and our lives. This gathering was like that for me: It was a gorgeous seed planted for more and bigger faerie migration to the Big Island…. where powerful mana magick awaits us deep within her jungles, ocean and rocks. –Mojo Jaya

<<aloha Faeries! Looking for faes with cash. There is 27 acres of beautious land for sale right next door to me on the Big Island of Hawai'i. They are asking just over $500,000 for it. There is a large 2 bdrm house / and 2 guest cottages on the land. I am looking for business minded faes that can organize a collective and/or research and gather funds so that we can create a permanent sanctuary in Hawai'i. I know the land well and this is a prime piece of protected property that has the potential to expand. It is located but hidden right in the heart of lower Puna.

(Wolverine turned 69 during the gathering, and we honored him by laying him on the earth and then lifting him up to the sky over our heads.)

Our most gracious hosts Kelly y Normand blessed us with the use of their land and facilities. We purchased and had delivered more and varied foods than any of us could or would eat in many a moon. We had fab meals of lasagna, chili w/ special cornbread, stir fries, lau lau and soy milk--lots of soy milk.
Some rains are most conducive to self reflection and lead also to searching for dry sleeping spots. Had one glorious opening circle with many sharing chants and other majix. One highlight being the lifting of Wolverine into his 69th year.
Solstice celebration was an intimate affair around the new firepit. Torchlit up with hag tapirs we had gathered from the mountain, which doubled as sparkling twirling light shows to the beat. We drew Hermit card for our gathering and had lots to relate.
Erection of a new pavilion was a priority for this confag. Sissies constructing has always been a big turn on for me. We got to use this pavilion for chi gong and most hugely for our xmas Dance, the Mermaids' Balls. We had lite blessings of rain throughout the evening and what better blessing than to have shelter. We had lights, massages and the best of done up company all to sets by djs max Fathom and our very own Dandy Lion, fresh off the plane from San Francisco. Oh, costuming and makeup by the most luscious Juicy Cameltoe I hadn’t, until that moment, met.
We had one day of road trip to alternative gathering sites with visitations. Playing swing the rope after our swim at Green Lake there descended upon us a family of seven. Five teenage boys, Woody being the middle one. Mom called him wood. I like to think of him as morningwood. 2 younger blonds and 2 older brauns. And Dad was having a hard time looking at our privates all exposed like they were. Someone chatted up Mom enough to get all the boys birthdays and we were busy doing astro charts for them while watching them play swing on the rope-letting go at the perfect moment and posing for Normand's shutter on the way down to the boy eating lake. Steffen had just shared that story of the man in the lake that ate boys. Someone mentioned William, owner of said Green Lake and infamous boy-eater. Anyhow, to make a long story short, we got a song out of it. Or at least a line for an as yet unfinished version of the Twelve Days of xmas. Everybody sing now,
FIVE TEENAGE BOYS
We sang that song the rest of our lives.
Champaign ponds, steaming gardens
awa dreams, bodies minding
bending time
Thanx again to Kelly and Normand. And to all of us here. more love --bamboo stevie
